Hi, I’m Ivan.

Artisan Ivan (now known as Southpaw Studio 83) began with my hands and a small pile of beads—simple bracelets made one at a time for people who wanted something personal to wear. That was the first version of this shop: quiet, hand-made pieces you could fidget with, gift, or keep as a small reminder on your wrist.

I’m a neurodivergent, left-handed artist who thinks a lot about how things feel in the real world: the weight of a bracelet, the way a clasp sits, the way a simple phrase can stay with you all day.

As the shop grew, I started bringing in another part of my brain: my love for music, mathematics, and lettering. Most of my newer designs start in Procreate, where I hand-letter phrases until the rhythm of the strokes feels right—almost like working through a melody or a math problem. Those drawings become print-on-demand items like mugs, totes, and pillows.

So now the shop has two sides:

  • Hand-made bracelets, built one at a time
  • Print-on-demand pieces featuring my original lettering and designs

“Lefty Love” is a good example of what I care about:
simple, human handwriting on a natural surface, celebrating the people who don’t quite fit into the default settings (left-handed, neurodivergent, or just a little different in general).

Lately there’s a third thread running through everything: baseball and humor. I love the weird language of the game — the trash talk, the superstition, the way players fail constantly and still have to show up again the next day. That’s where designs like “I can strike you out with my eyes closed” come from: hand‑lettered phrases that feel like dugout jokes you can actually wear.

In everything I make, I try to balance:

  • Personal: Bracelets and designs that feel like they came from a real person, not a template.
  • Practical: Objects you’ll actually use—your favorite mug, your go-to tote, the bracelet you reach for every day.
  • Honest: Pricing that respects you, but also the real costs of materials, production, shipping, and keeping a tiny shop alive.
